Contrapuntal Poem
I always see
Flashing lights
A place I can't get to
Streets bustling
Cars are honking
Billboards and street performers
Museums, parks, niche hideaways
Culture flourishing
It goes on and on
Blinking in the distance
Somewhere I want to be
Just out of reach
There is music rising
Hot subway steam blowing
Street vendors and skyscrapers
Musicals, plays, off-off-Broadway
A city thriving
And for me, a life is there, awaiting.
