My Collages

In my free time, I enjoy doing collage work. Over time, I have gathered and procured many items that help me make pieces and collages that centralize around one theme. I use many elements, including stickers, hot glue, textured paper, layered paper, string and weaving essentials like yarn, as well as things like postcards, beads, buttons, jewels, etc. I got inspired by accounts all over Instagram that specialize in collage making, and though I am by no means a professional, I do believe that I have learned a lot of the craft just by watching, taking notes, and applying whatever interests me into my work. Continuously, I have stayed curious about the process of collaging; I am always looking for new ways to make it more engaging for myself and for the viewer. I am most interested in learning how to incorporate ink, stamps/stamping, and more 3D/tactile elements.

Singin’ In the Rain Collage

Ever since I was a little girl, Singin' in the Rain was one of my favorite movies. I had a packet of old movie postcards, and was stuck on my Singin' in the Rain one, so I knew I had to make something with it.

“Yellow” Collage

Sometimes I do not have a direct inspiration for a piece until I start working on one. I find elements that I feel match one another and figure out a way to make them work well and compliment everything on the page.

What really got me going in a collage-making frenzy was this: making aesthetically aligned pieces that represented each of my characters in the novel I am writing. It helps me understand them better, which helps me get into their heads easier when writing them. Plus, I enjoy getting to spend time with my characters in whatever ways possible.

Collage for Friend

Since I love making collages, I figured I would make them as gifts for friends and family. This is just one of many examples I have of creating collages in this manner.
